Trump's Davos Flight Aborted Over Electrical Issue

Joint Base Andrews: President Donald Trump is back en route to Switzerland after a dramatic start to his first foreign trip of 2026. Air Force One was forced to pull a U-turn mid-flight on Tuesday night after the crew identified an electrical malfunction.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt assured reporters that the issue was minor. The President and the largest-ever U.S. delegation to Davos quickly boarded a replacement aircraft to ensure they arrived in time for the World Economic Forum.

High Stakes in the Alps The delay does little to cool the geopolitical temperature awaiting Trump in Davos. The President is heading into the summit with a combative agenda, centered on his controversial push to buy Greenland. Dismissing resistance from Greenlanders and NATO allies alike, Trump insisted on Tuesday that “something’s going to happen that’s going to be very good for everybody.”

When pressed on whether his threats to seize the territory by force could break NATO, Trump remained ambiguous but firm on his security rationale. “I think that we will work something out,” he said, while simultaneously threatening tariffs on allies who oppose him.

The President also plans to tout his economic record, calling his second term a “miracle” despite domestic criticism over rising costs. He dismissed European leaders, suggesting they “could use some advice” from his administration on energy and immigration.
