Israeli Airstrikes Hit Villages in Lebanon

The IDF confirms strikes on “Hezbollah terror targets” in Sahmar and Manara, citing violations of the truce agreements.

BEKAA VALLEY, LEBANON (January 15, 2026) – The Israeli military has launched a fresh wave of airstrikes targeting villages in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley today, shattering the relative calm of the ongoing ceasefire.

According to local reports, the strikes primarily targeted the village of Sahmar in the Western Bekaa district, as well as the village of Manara. Witnesses described multiple explosions that sent thick plumes of smoke rising from the targeted areas. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the operation, stating that fighter jets struck “Hezbollah terror targets” and infrastructure used by the group to rebuild its military capabilities.

The strikes come amidst a backdrop of rising friction. Israel has accused Hezbollah of repeated violations of the ceasefire understandings established in late 2024, claiming the group is rearming in areas that are supposed to be demilitarized. Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that residential buildings were damaged in the attacks, though immediate casualty figures remain unclear.

This escalation coincides with the Lebanese Army’s recent efforts to implement disarmament protocols in the south, a process Israel has criticized as being too slow and insufficient.
