What Happened? Mulayam Singh, a local resident, needed urgent medical transport for his sick wife. Despite the government’s claims of accessible ‘108’ ambulance services, none were available. Left with no choice, Singh used a handcart to transport her to the health center. Tragically, the delay proved fatal. Doctors declared her brought dead.
The Aftermath The ordeal continued even after death. With no hearse van provided by the hospital authorities, Singh was filmed pushing his wife’s body back home on the same cart, a visual that highlights the grim reality of rural healthcare.
Authorities Speak The local medical administration has denied negligence regarding the return journey. The Block Medical Officer claimed, “We were not informed that they needed a vehicle to take the body back; otherwise, we would have arranged it.” However, locals argue that providing dignity to the dead should be a proactive duty of the hospital, not a request the grieving family has to make.
