SINGAPORE (January 15, 2026) – Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has officially stripped Pritam Singh of his title as Leader of the Opposition today. The decision follows a heated session in parliament on Wednesday where lawmakers voted to remove the title due to Singh’s criminal conviction.
Singh, the secretary-general of the Workers’ Party (WP), was convicted of lying under oath regarding a controversy involving former lawmaker Raeesah Khan, who admitted to fabricating details about a sexual assault case in 2021.
